Work started this week on the new flood-control berm. Thanks to the rangers at Rasar State Park for supplying the concrete chunks.
The fill dirt is coming in a little at a time, courtesy of the various clean-up jobs we do around this time of year.
Next up will be installation of some ferns and other native vegetation.
The bank along OUR stretch of river held just fine during the last round of minor flooding, but the neighbor to the N.E. has a very low bank. He is apparently not interested in beefing it up. He even had the gall, when I asked if he was ready to augment his bank, to say, "I like a little flooding. Don't You??" Ummm, no.
So the water flows right through his place and inundates our property. When the river recedes, the water has nowhere to go so we're stuck with it for another week or more.
Now, I like water features as much as the next guy, but this is ridiculous.
So...if he likes flood water so much - he can keep it!
